Have Your Voice

Artist Statement

Have Your Voice is a site-specific installation with six short hand-written sentences embedded on everyday surfaces such as chairs, tables, the ground, and doors within Palm Court at Kingswood Arts in London. This community space serves as a gathering place for people to connect and share their interests, forming both the physical and conceptual foundation of the artwork.

The project draws inspiration from graffiti, particularly markings found in hard-to-reach or unexpected places. These markings, thought-provoking and unique, may not last forever. They provoke questions: What motivates someone to leave a mark where few might look? Are these acts of rebellion, resistance, or declarations of agency?

These questions resonate with my own experience of relocating to London nearly two years ago. Instead of placing words in inaccessible spaces, I have inscribed them on objects that are used and seen daily, creating moments of quiet connection and shared reflection within the community I am beginning to call home.

Have Your Voice explores the boundaries between visibility and voice, presence and place. It functions both as an invitation and a gesture of belonging, where language becomes not a proclamation but a subtle form of exchange woven into the life of a shared space.
