Artist Statement

​

Self-Introduction Handbook is a video work of my response to the consequences of online meetings after almost two years of pandemics. It is a guideline to introduce ourselves while everything seems possible online.

 

The limitation of physical gatherings forces us to develop online meetings. Although convenient and manageable, this raises controversial topics we must confront and question.

 

One of the issues is the distinctions between virtual and physical connections. To the best of our knowledge, the notion of understanding somebody is not merely by the outlook, the voice, or basic information, but it also unites the physical interrelationship.

 

Undoubtedly, virtual meetings challenge the notion of acquaintance and our boundaries. Still, they also provide a crucial platform to reevaluate the importance of physical touch that we might have forgotten.
