Artist Statement

Surviving Blank is a piece of work about the disturbing mood during the pandemic of coronavirus in 2020. This work is a depiction of the struggle between reality and mental state that might be more problematic and widely attacked rather than the virus itself.

During the pandemic, there were numerous modifications in most of the activities. Lots of plans had been delayed, suspended or even cancelled. Nevertheless, many of us strived to live as normal as we could. We tried to survive, even though it was never easy.

​

However, there were still many restraints that we could not control. There were yet lots of matters that were limited and could not be done.

 

Thus, we were in a state of surviving blank. This dispute would continue until we finally conquered the battle.
