Artist Statement

In my previous self-portraits, usually, I shot myself with a reverse image from the mirror. It signifies an idea of seeing myself through oneself.

​

However, in my selfie for this exhibition, I employed a different approach to picture myself: I put a tripod behind me. I attempted to investigate myself through a point of view from a third person.

​

I do believe, in some ways, we have to use an alternative manner to see ourselves. We need to get rid of our subjective thoughts and examine ourselves in an unfamiliar state.
