Shore of Salvation?
Artist Statement
I perceive a deep reflection of liberation from the rebellion of the main character, Michel Poiccard, in Jean-Luc Godard’s ‘Breathless’. Michel showed us a typical rebel figure of the youth in the ‘60s. This also manifested how the French New Wave film provoked the discussion and question of liberation both in a personal and social matter in that era.
Time flies, after more than half a century, after numerous movements and wars, after repeating economic crises, I would like to question, are we still having liberation now? Do we learn from the past? Or do we abuse the significant of freedom, or instead, are we confined in the name of liberation?
