Artist Statement

This video work is constructed by two parts: the first part shows an Italian man speaking Mandarin with a Chinese lyric; the second part shows a Chinese woman reading an Italian lyric. There are certain levels of loneliness: the loneliness between eastern and western cultures; the loneliness when one is isolated; the distance and the barriers of understanding a lyric while one is speaking an unfamiliar language; also, the distance between the audiences and the artwork.
