Remains of the Day

Artist Statement

Remains of the Day is a piece of work I did for a group exhibition entitled "Corona. Artist's Documents 2020", curated by Herbert Hundrich. A project regarding our response to the crisis of coronavirus that impacted the entire world at a critical time.

The virus itself was not the most deadly matter that overwhelmed us. Indeed, the consequences of emptiness, fears and uncertainties forced us to confront the deepest anxieties that we might not be able to handle.

Hence, in Remains of the Day, I employed an empty chair as a metaphor for emptiness. It represented a sense of void as if this was the only remains under challenging circumstances.
